The island’s sheltered half-tide harbour is a yachtsman’s paradise, protected from all but the most severe gales. Peacefulness, outstanding natural beauty, fabulous sandy beaches, scenic cliff walks and crystal clear safe bathing all make Herm Island a definite ‘Port of Call’ for visiting yachtsmen taking a cruising holiday around the British Channel Islands. The Channel islands make an ideal stop-over while en-route to France.
With its easy approach from St Peter Port, Guernsey, it is ideal for bilge keelers or multihulls. Keelboats can lie against the harbour wall. Moor up using ground chains and buoys on the sandy beach where there is space for 30 boats, or enter the inner harbour. The harbour has a sandy bottom and takes about 8 boats moored fore and aft. There are many scenic deep water moorings around the island and for real peace and solitude there are anchorages at Rosaire and Belvoir and Shell bays.
As well as a warm welcome you will find the renowned White House Hotel with its award-winning restaurant and extensive wine list. Relax in The Mermaid Tavern with its barbeque and boaters' restaurant, then browse in Herm’s gift shops, offering excellent value clothing, novelties and souvenirs.
Herm is the ideal place to get away from the crowded marinas and pontoons of the larger ports.
