The Mermaid Tavern

In the evenings there are two main options for eating at the Mermaid Tavern.
The Mermaid Tavern will take evening bookings for its 'Top-Deck' barbecue and its Restaurant for visitors who wish to travel across on the 19:00 Trident sailing and return to Guernsey at 22:45.

The Black Rock Grill at The Mermaid Restaurant

Fabulously refurbished, this 50-seat area brings you a unique, delicious, healthy and totally interactive dining experience.  Your meal is presented cooking on volcanic rocks (heated to 440 degrees) at your table so that you can enjoy a delicious meal, freshly prepared by you and your guests to your own personal tastes - whether rare, medium or well done.

The Black Rock Grill method of dining uses a high-temperature rock that sears in all the natural juices and nutrients.  All our produce is trimmed of fat and no oils are used in the cooking process.  This guarantees a taste that is truly unusual and full of flavour.

Pre-booking is advised for this excellent restaurant due to its popularity with residents, visiting boaters and people living on Guernsey.  There is an 'a la carte' menu supplemented with choices from a daily specials board and a childrens menu.

Dress is casual and families are always welcome.  There are restricted opening times during our 'low season' so please contact the Mermaid direct to find opening times and availability.
Telephone 01481-710170 or email to mermaid@herm-island.com.

The 'Top-Deck' :
Is an outdoor covered dining area where guests can enjoy a freshly cooked barbecue.  Guests choose between various set menus that have to be ordered in advance of the night.  This option is only available to pre-booked groups and not 'chance' diners.  For further information please contact The Mermaid Tavern direct on (01481) 710170 for details of menu choices, booking availability and group sizes.

The Courtyard menu - 6 - 9pm (until 8pm from mid September)
Open every day from April to October, the courtyard menu serves typical pub food such as burgers, fish & chips, steak and a selection of bistro dishes.  There is a selection of meals for 'young adults' prepared using only fresh ingredients.  The courtyard menu should appeal to all tastes and pockets, so even the fussiest of diners should find something that tempts them!

Guests order their food at the till service point and then return to their tables with a drink and sit in the sunshine while our staff prepare the meal and bring it over to their table.  On those days when the weather is not quite as good, visitors are able to eat inside the tavern or at our Top-deck seating area.

Pizza's can be orderd from the Mermaid Tavern from 9 - 10.03pm during the high season, Monday to Saturday.

With the introduction of the new 'mid-evening' boat, guests will be able to come across to Herm on a daytime boat, have dinner at the Mermaid restaurant or eat at the Courtyard Barbecue and return to Guernsey at 21:00 to avoid the crowds.  Alternatively on a Thursday and Friday during July and August there will be a boat leaving Herm at 19:30 to take back guests who have travelled across earlier in the day.

Enjoy a great evening at The Mermaid Tavern
