There is no better place to enjoy a spot of fishing than from Herm. It offers a diverse range of opportunities to fish. To the north there is an expanse of beaches, while to the south there are cliffs and rocky outcrops. There is something for every angler on Herm, during all kinds of weather and at all states of the tide.
Herm is popular with anglers throughout the year. The National Federation of Sea Anglers has regularly chosen Herm as the venue for their individual championship final. There is often a group of anglers who come on the last boat from Guernsey, stay to fish all night and then return to Guernsey on the first boat next morning. Similarly in late September or early October (depending on tides) each year we have several groups of anglers who come and stay in our self-catering cottages for a week and fish every day.
After a hard day angling, if cooking your catch doesn't appeal, then hot and cold food is available at The Mermaid Tavern, along with a refreshing pint of ale!
To add some variety to your fishing trip try one of the local fishing charter boats. The experienced skippers will take you off for a day to places you would otherwise never get to.
Hire a self-catering cottage for a short break or spend a week or more indulging yourself with some marvellous angling opportunities on this beautiful island.
