Sorbus auduparia   (Common Rowan or Mountain Ash)

This tree is a member of the Rowan family and is suitable for large gardens. They produce creamy white flowers from late spring onwards and bright red berries follow. This tree is incredibly useful to entice wildlife into your garden. Birds love the berries. They are also used in street planting and public parks providing wonderful displays when in berry. They prefer well drained soils which are slightly acidic. They can grow to heights of 25m in the right conditions.  This one is growing opposite the entrance to the Mermaid Tavern.
