Bank Holiday Monday 28th May 2007

This wall in the gardens of the White House Hotel was a victim of the force 9 northerly winds on Sunday night, 27th May.

Euan & Simon fixing the generator to power the cement mixer in order to be able to rebuild the wall.

It was a very stormy night on Sunday night and many campers had a sleepless night wondering if their tents would still be standing in the morning. The main damage was to windbreaks but there were also a few flooded tents! The Drive was covered in leaves, a more usual sight on an autumn morning rather than a spring morning.

Bank holiday Monday started very blustery but many braved the elements to visit the home of ‘Mrs B’ who had spent the previous 24 hours baking for a charity cake stall. The intention had been to have a stall on the harbour but the weather meant the event had to be moved to her dining room. The table was laden with cakes, bakes, jams etc but these were soon sold and £141 was raised for local charities.

By the afternoon the rain had made way for brilliant sunshine so after the cakes had been eaten self-caterers and campers emerged and the waterproofs were exchanged for swimwear and a pleasant afternoon was spent on Belvoir sheltering from the cool north wind.
