Visit Sark

A day trip to our neighbouring island of Sark can be arranged through the Hotel reception or can be booked direct. Depending on demand and weather conditions boats can depart from Herm up to 3 times per week, usually on weekdays.  To get a longer day guests may take a return trip from Guernsey to Sark and return to Herm on the 19.00 'Captain's Table' boat.  Please note this option is only possible subject to availability and booking at the hotel reception.

Still retaining a feudal system of government headed by the Seigneur, or Lord, Sark offers the visitor a truly unique experience.  The island of Sark is the only feudal state in Europe, where government has changed little since 1563.  Like Herm, there are no cars on the island and transport takes the form of cycles and horse drawn carriages which are both for hire.  In fact, tractors are the only motorised vehicles allowed on the island.

A day on Sark is ample time for sightseeing.  Just three miles long and a mile and a half wide, the best way to explore the island is either by foot, rented bicycle or the slightly more elegant horse-drawn carriage.
